Do View Bots Work? We Ran a Study to Find Out...
ResellBuzz conducted a study to find out if the hype around view bots is true
View bots have become a popular recommendation to get your listings sold faster. However, do they actually work?
To test, we setup listings ranging from sp5der hoodies to airpod maxes. Then, using a popular view bot designed by ApexResells, we artificially increased the view count to see what happens.
The Setup
We ran 100 test listings across multiple platforms. Half were left untouched, half got juiced with fake views.
The products that took part of the experiment included: sp5der hoodies, dior sauvage, airpod maxes, lululemon leggings, and nike air jordans. The product list was designed for diversification of the data sources.
Control group (50 items): no bots, standard traffic. This control group will allow us to benchmark average performance to see if the botted listings have any meaningful difference.
Botted group (50 items): view counts increased by 200 each day.
It may be noteworthy that ApexResells's view bot attempts to mimic organic traffic by supplementing the views over a period of time. This period lasted between 30 and 60 minutes for our 200 view request.
After botting, we watched how long each took to sell as well as how many messages or offers came in.
The Results
The numbers were ridiculous.
Sales speed: Control listings averaged 6 days to sell; botted ones sold in about 3. That is roughly 43% faster.
Message flood: Botted listings got 1.8× more DMs on average than the control listings by the time they were sold. This is in despite of the fact that the listings were up for a shorter period of time due to them being sold faster.
Why It Works
By artificially increasing the view count, the algorithm marks your listing as higher priority and in-demand. This raises its rankings in the algorithm and gets it put in front of more potential buyers.
It's simple math. More views = algorithms rank higher = more sales.
The Takeaway
If you are a reseller in 2026, you NEED view bots to compete. All professional resellers use them.
The hype we have seen on social media is not unwarranted.
